Pen-enabled systems primarily take advantage of the Intel Centrino Duo processor technology family, along with Microsoft Windows Vista Business or Microsoft Windows XP Tablet operating system.
Display
Indoor/Outdoor displays should be considered for field force automation applications or anywhere sunlight or very bright artificial lighting (i.e.: operating rooms) is used
Connectivity
Network connectivity is primarily wireless Ethernet (802.11), with wired Ethernet as a secondary option. Many pen-enabled systems in the 12” form factor have slots available to accept WWAN cards for cellular based communications. Be careful choosing pen-based systems under 12”s, often there is no slot to accept a WWAN card and at that point an embedded design would be needed to support cellular-based connectivity
